From the Journal

Unfortunately there is a growing number of Australian bird species currently listed as endangered. In researching the eggs of these species, I found myself marvelling at such mini "abstract art" creations! Apparently their formation is akin to being in a car-wash operation; "jets" spraying the propelling egg with pigments that create the distinctive patterns. The pointy end of the egg emerges last, where markings are fainter....

Apart from the Southern Cassowary, which doesn't fly (see the large green egg grounded, in the LH corner) , the eggs are depicted air-borne, soaring upwards (like a balloon launch!)

Symbolically, the eggs as containers of new life from which avian creatures emerge, are buoyant in hope, and rise.... This is in the midst of the chaos and destruction of many habitats; the effects of our modern world. This mess is shown here as an abstract base beneath/underneath lovely blue skies. It may suggest a bird's nest (home), with a residue of droppings and broken shells, that has been decimated; awaiting the tender touch of a "putting to rights"...
