From the Journal

At the end of a very wet winter here in the Hills, the large sweeps of hills and valleys are almost blindingly GREEN!

Up close in small worlds, velvety soft outbreaks of moss everywhere win the prize. Could anything actually be more vividly green?! This stuff has always made me smile, and if you look into the spongy "cushions", tiny spores on stalks look like mini forests.

Apart from that, I have an affinity with "green", not least because it was my maiden name. (And no, I don't think I am directly related to any of the many Greens living in this district, in case you were wondering... Definitely a ring-in!)
